I am currently taking limited work. Types of work I am taking: Throttle shaft bushings

This pertains to stock Solex carburetors, namely PICT, PCI, Type 3 PDSIT, Type 4 PDSIT, and Weber ICT, Dellorto FRD and Kadron carburetors.

Looking at these pictures, you can see that the wear is typically ovaled, and wear is restricted to the direction of throttle shaft force from the cable or linkage. A mill does a good job of letting you choose where to cut to restore the correct center for the hole. This is harder with a drill press due to lack of precision. I can also drill and ream in line of sight with much more accuracy.

Each carburetor has two throttle shaft bores. Each bore costs $20 to repair. Your total per carburetor could be $40 plus return shipping. Sometimes the wear is only significant on the end where the throttle arms are, which may reduce the cost.

If you want me to do the throttle shaft bushings, please strip the carburetors down to just the body with the throttle plate, throttle shaft and all throttle shaft hardware still installed. This means throttle arm, spacers and the nut still on the shaft. If the carburetors are Type 3 PDSIT, Type 4 PDSIT, or Kadrons, this means the complete throttle body assembly below the carburetor body. If it comes to me like this I don't have to charge you for disassembly. I will also ultrasonically clean the bodies of both carburetors for you as well as the covers if you also include them disassembled, meaning floats removed, any parts that screw in, etc.

I can also ultrasonically clean and resurface your intake manifolds at cost of $10 for the pair.

I can also ultrasonically clean all of your carburetor parts in a loose batch for you and descale them for a cost of $20.

Fuel leaking from the throttle shaft is usually an indication of fuel pooling on top of the throttle plate. This is usually only apparent after the engine has been shut off, because vacuum at the throttle plate causes air to suck in rather than fuel to leak out during the time the engine is running. This may be an indication that you have excessive fuel pressure, or in inlet valve that is not closing off completely. It may also mean float height issues. If this is the case, you may still see fuel leaking out through the bushing after it is repaired. It may be less, but if the problem is significant, you may still see some.

Include a note with your parts with instructions and contact info you want me to use. Pack your items well! If you use a shipping company to send your parts, please include a return shipping address to send them to.

I take PayPal and cash or check and will require payment at the time of completion. My PayPal ID is harneyscarburetorclinic@gmail.com. If you include an email address I will send you a tracking number.
